Join the BPGSA Board!

This year, at the Sunday, November 5th board meeting, the BPGSA will be voting for new BPGSA Board members. We are currently seeking new individuals for a 2 year term for the 2024 and 2025 softball seasons. If you have an interest in Bethel Park Softball, the young ladies who play, and being a leader for the BPGSA program and community - we need you!

Our goal as an organization is to provide a structure for our girls to learn the game of softball and to play it in an environment that creates an enjoyable experience. We teach players the importance of working together as a team to accomplish goals through hard work, confidence, and sportsmanship.

Through the hard work of the members of our board, the past few years have been some of the most successful years in the organization’s history. New and fresh ideas from board members have led to a significant increase in our fundraising efforts. This has allowed for us to give more back to our girls within the BPGSA organization. We have been able to upgrade our team uniforms for all age groups, provide end of season gifts for the girls, and have also been able to help cover tournament expenses for our summer All-Star teams. We are currently looking for even more player development opportunities to offer our players as well as in discussions about potential upgrades to our fields for future seasons.

In order to continue providing our girls with the best experience possible, we can use your help! With the addition of new members to the board, we will be able to increase our efforts across all areas of the organization in hopes of providing the girls with an even better experience. Our hopes are that the girls will see an immediate benefit from the effects of those efforts, while also creating a strong foundation for the generations of softball players and board members that follow us.

We as an organization value everyone’s time in volunteering and we understand people have work commitments and their children participate in other activities. However, we try to not ask for too much of your time and are 100% committed to work/life balance. New board members are typically paired with senior board members to learn the responsibilities to fill roles such as scheduling, uniforms, trophies, equipment, concession stands, website maintenance, etc. We hold a monthly meeting which is typically 1.5-2 hours (usually Sunday or Tuesday nights). Certain times of the year are busier than others, but this is mainly in preparation for and during our Spring season. We do also ask for additional volunteer time for the duration of our annual tournament that takes place at the end of July. This is a huge fundraising event that spans multiple days at two venue locations, with games being played on 5-6 fields. We typically host 30+ teams in close to 80 games over the course of the tournament, as well as provide concessions and field maintenance at both venues.  In order for this event to run smoothly, it requires a large amount of volunteer help, not only from our board members, but from our player’s parents as well.

Overall, this is an amazing way for you to be more involved in our community and be a role model for the young ladies involved in the sport of softball. If you decide to move forward with this opportunity, we ask you to complete the Board Member Application and that you return your application no later than 10/31/2023.

Sincerely,
The BPGSA Board
